February's Program will be Tom Pietila of Racine!
Our February meeting will start at 7pm. The meeting is open to members and the public. Attendance for all is free. Our featured Speaker for February will be Tom Pietila, Captain of the boat, Seanile Too, from the port of Racine. Tom is a veteran fisherman who has been successful in fishing the local tournaments. In 2011, Tom and his crew won the Illinois SU Open, placed 4th in our Brew City Tournament and was 7th overall in the newly formed SW Lake Michigan Challenge Series (previously known as the 336 Series)
Tom is also the current president of Salmon Unlimited of Wisconsin's Racine Chapter. He promises an exciting and informative presentation. If there is enough interest, we would like to get a group of 4-6 people to go to Racine's meeting on Wednesday, February 15th. Send Bob an E-Mail (bob@glsfclub.com) if you are interested.
We hope to see you there.
At the January meeting we had a great showing for the Annual Swap Meet and the following meeting. We had a great presentation by the United States Coast Guard Auxilliary, which stressed safety. They even explained how the new DSC radios work and why they are so important. We even had a guest DNR Warden visit us. Thank you to everyone who attended!
Looking ahead, we are still securing a speaker for the March meeting. In April we hope to have a Manfacturer's night with Lake Michigan Angler out of Winthrop Harbor, along with a presentation from Brad Eggold from the DNR Fisheries division. Brad will be updating us on the Creel Count Data gathered at Brew City 2011. In May we will have Tim Campbell, the new Invasive Species Specialist from the Great Lakes Water Institute. It will be an informative Spring!
If you have an idea for a program at one of our upcoming meetings, please share it with a board member.

Kid's Ice Fishing Clinic Was Held Saturday, February 4th at Humboldt Park!
Click Here for the details. THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who gave up their Saturday to teach some young folks about ice fishing. Although the weather was too warm to ice fish, the kids had a good time and food was great What better way to perpetuate fishing enjoyment than showing young children how great it is! Thanks again to all of the volunteers, our DNR Wardens and Chairman Rich Hehn. Watch for the details on the Spring Clinic coming up on April 14th.
Our Great Lakes Fishery is under attack! If you would like to help save it, please click here for more information. Thanks!
Lake Michigan Sport Fishing...
The Best Trout & Salmon Fishing in the World is Right at our Doorstep… and the Great Lakes Sport Fishermen Club is working to keep our fishing great!
Lake Michigan has been called the “World’s Biggest Fishing Pond,” and with good reason. We have the best trout and salmon fishing to be found anywhere in the United States. If not anywhere in the world - right at our front door.
Catching a trophy-size fish is no longer something to just dream about, and you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to make your dream come true in Canada or Alaska. You can make it happen right here in Milwaukee!
GLSF club members routinely catch chinook or king salmon over 20 pounds, lake trout over 15 pounds, rainbow trout or steelhead trout over 10 pounds, coho salmon over 8 pounds, and brown trout over 15 pounds.
Join us - the Great Lakes Sport Fisherman - and learn our fishing tips and techniques. We’ll help you to fish with success on Lake Michigan, and make your dream of a trophy-size catch come true.
Your membership will insure quality facilities and good quantities of fish for years to come.
Our club’s strength is in numbers. Collectively, our members do make a difference by preserving and improving the fisheries.
