All great events start with a great bunch of volunteers. Here you see some of the many volunteers it takes to make our Annual Auction a financial success.
In addition to the bake sale pictured to the left, here is a picture of some of the items up for auction to the public as well as any of the members who wish to bid.
There are many fishing rods on which to bid as well as fishing reels and even some rod and reel combinations.
Not only are there rods and reels for Great Lakes angling, but you can expect to see rods and reels from anything from panfish fishing to musky fishing to ice fishing, including several types of ice fishing tip-ups.
In addition to rods, reels and tip-ups, you'll also find landing nets, tackle boxes and hundreds of different lures. What makes this auction unique, is that every year, the contents of the items up for bidding change. There is no set criteria. We auction whatever our membership can get donated to the club. For example, last year, there were a few weekend packages that were offered by local resorts, that were auctioned and purchased for much less than they would cost on the open market.
Over on the right, you can see that in 2008, we had quite a large art offering from which to choose and bid on. There were certainly many bargains to be obtained for the bidding.
Here you can see, we had a great print of a Rainbow Trout.
We also hold a bakery sale and raffle. Here you can see, an Easter prize that was raffled last year and won by one of the club's members. His wife and grand-daughter were really happy that he bought a ticket.
In addition to all of the auction items, we also had a table set-up for just raffles. Of course, we had our annual gun raffle on display, but we also had a couple of other raffles run under a bucket raffle, with some great prizes.
With all of this activity taking place, we even raffled off several pork tenderloins and hams throughout the day. Everyone has a chance to win something either through a raffle or through the bidding process during the actual auction.
As you can see on the left below, we have ample seating for the actual auction. We anticipate large crowds and hope that the weather cooperates.
On the right, we have one of the most important positions, the payment table. We will be accepting credit cards electronically this year, allowing us to expidite the process a little better than in the past.
